Brian brings to the team an abundance of soccer experience and knowledge. Brian started playing soccer back in Kenya under the tutelage of his father Vince Ombiji who had stints as a coach with the Kenyan National Team. While in Kenya, Brian played professionally for the following clubs: Rivatex FC, KCC Futbol Club, Eldoret United, and AFC Leopards. He also won the Kenyan FA Cup helping him to expand his experience with play in CAF continental soccer. In 2002, Brian was recruited by Lindsey Wilson College on a full scholarship. Lindsey Wilson College is an NAIA powerhouse. Since Brian had already played professionally, he was not eligible to play Division I. While with the Blue Raiders he earned three All-Conference First Team selections, two NAIA All-Region First Team nods, the NAIA Region XI Player of the Year Award in 2004, and a spot on the NAIA All-Tournament First Team in 2005. In 2004 he was named both the Mid-South Conference and NAIA Region XI Player of the Year, and was an NAIA First Team All-American in 2004 and 2005. He finished his college career having scored 35 goals in 95 games. During his college career Brian also played with the Michigan Bucks in the USL Premier Development League. Brian then returned to professional play with the Harrisburg City Islanders in 2007 where he was a finalist for Rookie of the Year for the league. He was also a major contributor on Harrisburg’s 2007 Championship team, recording five game-winning goals, and receiving an All-League Second Team selection in 2007. After a year away from professional soccer in 2009, Ombiji returned to play with the Islanders again in 2010 and 2011 leading them into the Championship game. Brian also played indoor with the Harrisburg Heat 2012-2013. Brian has been coaching for eleven years. His coaching accomplishments include taking seven players from his LDC United Futures to play Division I soccer in college with scholarships. The remainder of the players on this team all got spots playing collegiately. Brian has also spent time as the Director of Coaching at a local club where he was involved in various aspects of coaching from U3 to U18. Brian cofounded South Central PA Soccer Academy (SCPASA) based in Gettysburg/Mechanicsburg/Boiling Springs area. Brian coaches for the following girls academy teams: SCPASA 97 Lady Lions, SCPASA 99 Lady Lions, and SCPASA 04 Lady Lions.
